Erica Markle, Extra Credit
Although I do not recall the title of the piece, my favorite piece of work in the gallery was the one created by Deborah Baldizar. The woman sitting on the post was so simple yet so detailed at the same time and that variability really drew me in. The intricate carving of the woman's every curve and every part of her face was absolutely amazing. What I liked most was the the piece really told a story to the viewer. The woman seemed to be pondering on the post and this could be interpreted in many different ways depending on the viewer. Besides the sculpture which was the main focus, the large, welded, metal pieces next to the woman were very visually pleasing as well. They were very neat to look and and had good use of positive and negative space. This whole setup made me feel peaceful and at ease.
