1. Understanding the assignment criteria means the student will fully comprehend the requirements, and work diligently with the criteria in mind. Trying to find the "right answer" is simply trying to please the teacher, and not digging further to do any extra work. If a person can fully understand the concepts of an assignment, they will do much better than if they were to seek the "right answer". Understanding the criteria definitely has a more favorable outcome, because students truly get into the project, and it allows them to be more successful.
2. Objective criticism focuses on compositional concerns, which includes looking at the balance, spatial depth, and unity. Subjective criticism focuses more on the personal impact it has within the critic and the object. Feeling's, meaning's and the artists' intent are all areas to look at. I believe we will be using subjective criticism in Art 120.
3. A cause and effect critique builds into a descriptive critique because as one realizes that the object is created of many circles, for example, they can conclude that the object has a circular balance.
4. Holding a critique at the end of a project allows the artist to improve their work after hearing the constructive thoughts and ideas. Most times, a critique will allow the artist to better the project they are working on.
