Megan Conte #2

1) The difference between understanding the assignment criteria and trying to find the right answer is that when you are just trying to find the right answer you aren'r really listening to what the assignment is and you are doing it just to get it done. When you are understanding the assignment criteria you are actually putting thought into it and remembering what you had done. And you will know, the purpose of the assignment, what your teacher wants you to learn from it and when is the assignment due.
2) Objective criticism is based on direct observation and the discussion is straight forward and other solutions are shared. Subjective criticism is when the discussion focuses on the subject and content of the design including the meaning of the work and the artists intent. We will mainly use objective criticism because it will help us learn from each other and we can give our ideas to help other peoples work.
3) A cause and effect critique builds on a descriptive one because it goes into more detail about why something has a certain look. For example from the reading: the design is primarily composed of diagonals would be descriptive. using cause and effect you would say because of the diagonals the design is very dynamic.
4) The value of holding a critique at the end of the project is to help each other out in the class and give out ideas to improve our work.
