Jill Palmer Assignment #2

1. There is a huge difference between really trying to understand the assignment criteria and simply trying to find the "right answer". By trying to find the "right answer" you are cheating yourself. Understanding the assignment is a learning process on its own and you gain much more. This way usually has a more favorable outcome since you are challenging yourself, rather than taking the easier route.
2. Objective criticism is used to tell how well a work of art or design is using the elements and principles of design. Subjective criticism is used to descrive the personal impact of an image or the the narrative implications of the idea. We will mainly use objective criticism in our critiques because our discussions will primarly focus on basic compositional concerns.
3. A cause and effect critique builds on a descriptive one by discussing the consequences as well as choices.
4. A critique can be very valuable at the end of a project. It allows the artist to recieve feedback on their work and take in suggestions and ideas to use or work on for the next project.
